Revisione di una turbina a gas: la squadra STEM al lavoro in centrale
STEM S.r.l. — in the heart of mechanics

Industrial machinery installation · since 2014

We install. We relocate. We keep production running.

About us

In the Heart of Mechanics

STEM was founded in 2014, but it began earlier and in a garage: the two partners built racing motorcycles at their own expense, where a tenth of a millimetre decides whether the engine reaches the end of the race. It is the same standard by which production lines are assembled today. The company works for machine builders and for the plants that run them — paper mills, glassworks, ceramics, food lines, cogeneration plants — and is run directly by the two partners: one looks after the sites and the technical relationships, the other the organisation and the contractual side.

We work in teams of three or four, almost always away from home: they arrive with their own equipment and stay until the line is producing. One job closes, another opens, all year round — and it is that constant movement that lets us answer requests that come at short notice.

Our specialist field is industrial mechanical assembly, completed by the electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic connections needed to bring the plant into production. The plants and the industries change — paper, ceramics, glass, power. The method we bring to them does not.

The team

Whoever turns up knows what to do

On a long job the teams rotate, and that is how we can be on several fronts at once without keeping anyone waiting. What does not change is the way the work is done: they are all STEM employees, with the same training, the same certifications and the same safety rules. And the handover is ours to manage — whoever takes over is briefed by the team going off, not by the customer.

Prevention and organisation

Ready before we set foot in your plant

Before a team enters your plant, your contact already has the full set of documents: site safety plan, training and certification records, fitness-for-work assessments, the PPE issued and, for work abroad, the A1 form.

We send it complete when the order opens — nothing to chase, and no last-minute requests.

The everyday work

Mechanical installation, plant relocation, maintenance on lines that are still producing: this is the work that runs right through our year.

Precision alignment

Measured precision. Documented alignment.

We bring rolls, shafts, motors, gearboxes, couplings and cardan shafts into line, skewed axes included. The total station is used above all to line up complete production lines, where the tolerance is a tenth of a millimetre over tens of metres; laser systems work on the single coupling. We measure every deviation, correct the geometry of the machine and hand over the result: before and after, with figures you can check.

  • SKF laser alignment systems for motors and cardan shafts
  • Three Fluke instruments with software we wrote ourselves, for simultaneous electrical measurements

Structural steelwork

We build what has to go around the plant.

We make structural steelwork to suit the plant and the space around it: guards and machine casings, support structures, mezzanine floors, walkways, stairs, landings, handrails and service platforms. Everything is made to measure, starting from what the site actually needs, prefabricated in our workshop wherever that is possible and finished on your own factory floor — adapted, assembled and welded in place.

Revamping

You don't replace everything. You improve what matters.

We keep what works and act on what is no longer up to the job. Revamping brings mechanics, drives, guards and critical assemblies up to date without replacing the whole plant, improving reliability, safety and production continuity.

Industries

Experience across industries, specialist skills

We work across a range of industries, adapting our skills, our organisation and our methods to what each plant and each process actually needs. Every industry has its own procedures, its own timings and its own way of working: we set the job up around the production context and around the machine itself. From paper to glass, from ceramics to food, we work on plants and lines of very different kinds while keeping the same approach. The aim is to fit quickly into the customer's organisation and bring the job to a close with precision and continuity.

Where we work

18 paesi

Our experience crosses borders, industries and very different kinds of production. We work in Italy and abroad, alongside machine builders and industrial groups on the assembly, installation and commissioning of their plants. We bring specialist skills, organisation and the ability to adapt, working to the same method in different production, regulatory and logistical settings. From Europe to the Americas and on to the most distant markets, the aim does not change: continuity, reliability and a result that holds.
